The conversation that changed everything
Oria was born from the conversation between Roberto Cipresso, Italy's best winemaker, and Martín Iglesias, an Argentine entrepreneur based in Europe. In 2023 they founded ORIA 1.618 SAS in Italy. The name 1.618 is the golden ratio —the measure of perfect beauty in nature.
Cipresso brought 30 years of knowledge of the Val d'Orcia terroir and 133 Sangiovese clones developed over decades of research in the world's finest wineries.
Iglesias brought the vision of making accessible what had always been exclusive to a few Tuscan families: real ownership of first-class land in Val d'Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004.

Named Italy's best winemaker by Luca Maroni in 2006. He has crafted wines in more than 25 countries. His 133 Sangiovese clones —developed over decades of massal selection— are the heart of Oria Prólogo. Cipresso brings the winemaking soul of the project: the conviction that Val d'Orcia produces the world's finest Sangiovese, and the technique to prove it.
